The Dark Lands Week 15

This update is very late because of the wacky and crazy week we have had in Maui (hospital stay because brain felt like it was exploding plus an 80 acre fire across the freeway made it hard to get back to our room). We just got back into our condo and will be packing all of our suitcases for our morning flight out. I am going to write this now because I might not have a chance later today.

I honestly thought I would be done with the third draft on Saturday but then I spent the day in the hospital. My plan was to work all Sunday night on it and have it done in Maui. Alas, the angry Tiki gods said no. We spent four hours backed up on the highway heading back to our room. Now it is time to pack and sleep.

My wife is almost done with her read through. She has only three more chapters to edit. When she finishes those (probably Tuesday), I will finish up the third edit (probably Wednesday). Then I will be looking for a few outside readers.

I am overjoyed with my wife’s reaction to the book. She has really enjoyed reading it. My wife is very well read and I feel like it is at least a minor hurdle. Next it will be a couple of strangers, for the impartial read. I also have a very good friend who probably should have become an editor that I am hoping I can talk into reading it. She scares me a little, she crushed my last young adult book. The book deserved to be crushed and I knew it. This one I really like but I know that she will help whip it into submission shape.

While I am now a little behind schedule I still plan to start the second book by July 1st. I am itching to find out what happens to my new friends next.

About csdaley

C.S. Daley was born in California but has spent most of his life in his imagination. His first short story written in third grade, the now classic "Close Encounters of the Turd Kind," was sold to his next door neighbor for a quarter. The neighbor promptly demanded a refund. An unhealthy obsession with the writings of Neil Gaiman, Christopher Moore, and Terry Pratchett have left his mind warped and broken. He spends most of his evening swilling down coffee while tapping at a keyboard under the watchful eyes of his kittens. They are there to make sure he doesn't snap. He likes to write fantasy for adults and teens.
